We trust in God for every breath
We won’t be overawed
Like cows we roam on God’s rich loam
Sustained, Adamic, flawed
First world wealth, we all sin
Don’t be beasts that perish
Choose well what to read, whose advice to heed
Be wise what and Who you cherish
Cows never reign, with Christ we will
He’s dividing the spoils with the strong
Our sin He did bore, His life unto death He did pour
His intercession lasts only so long
Make His decision before passing away
We each on Earth have that power
Make it today, not blown away
Choose King instead of wild flower.
Psalms 49:16-20
Do not be overawed when others grow rich,
when the splendor of their houses increases;
for they will take nothing with them when they die,
their splendor will not descend with them.
Though while they live they count themselves blessed— and people praise you when you prosper—
they will join those who have gone before them,
who will never again see the light of life.
People who have wealth but lack understanding
are like the beasts that perish.
Isaiah 53:12
Therefore I will give him a portion among the great,
and he will divide the spoils with the strong,
because he poured out his life unto death,
and was numbered with the transgressors.
For he bore the sin of many,
and made intercession for the transgressors.
James 1:9-10
Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position. But the rich should take pride in their humiliation—since they will pass away like a wild flower.
