Apollos’ pride

Just like Apollos, My grasp of gospel slight

I too learned from friends
We stay with what’s written, we’re less often bitten
Pride is a passage that ends

Pride is in all, a gift and a curse
All of us bound up and boasting
Bound to believe, we clearly receive
To God and to others we’re toasting

What makes us think we dreamed it up
Makes us think we know
If Jesus Christ was born to die
Makes sense that it’s His show

Pride is in all, a gift and a curse
All of us bound up and boasting
Bound to believe, we clearly receive
To God and to others we’re toasting

Pride is in all, a gift and a curse
All of us bound up and boasting
Bound to believe, we clearly receive
To God and to others we’re toasting.

1 Corinthians 1:12
What I mean is this: One of you says, “I follow Paul”; another, “I follow Apollos”; another, “I follow Cephas”; still another, “I follow Christ.”

1 Corinthians 4:6-7
Now, brothers and sisters, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us the meaning of the saying, “Do not go beyond what is written.” Then you will not be puffed up in being a follower of one of us over against the other. For who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?
