In our teens & twenties we tore through town
Ripped through rails swinging from the rafter
Didn’t get much done, man we had some fun
When we reminisce there’s lots of laughter
Now I’m in my fifties, Completely different man
Ain’t even a speeding ticket in years
Weirdly I find, still an outlaw in my mind
Truth is still all tied up with fears
If I see red lights flashing it all comes rushing back
My head says here they come to get ya
Even though there ain’t no reason, I’m in a different season
That outlaw he ain’t quite prepared to quit ya
What I need to see though is outlaw dead and buried
That boy just ain’t the ghost of Christmas past
He’s gone not to return, I make that memory burn
My choice if I’m to make his memory last
God, in Grace and Wisdom formed a brand new man
His creation this time ain’t no felon
In His perfect plan, He buried the old man
All his outlaw ways went with the quellin.
Psalms 7:17
I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness;
I will sing the praises of the name of the LORD Most High.
