My Kadesh

One of our largest obstacles, barrier, threat

Looms above us like a cloud
Second to salvation, our imagination
Screens reality like a shroud

Don’t decide to die in desert, Be bold like Caleb
Silenced crowd around him, spoke in power
Knew of danger, giants a risk
Appointed for this hour

God appoints us in our times
We’re weak, sometimes, in flesh
God, in grace, makes clear to us
This may be my Kadesh

Your Kadesh takes different forms
Mine sprang from sickness
A stroke meant I could live or die
I now don’t question quickness

Life is fragile, life is sweet
We get to live here free
Our Kadesh is in our flesh
Trust in God and see.

Numbers 13:27-30
They gave Moses this account: “We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! Here is its fruit. But the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large. We even saw descendants of Anak there.
The Amalekites live in the Negev; the Hittites, Jebusites and Amorites live in the hill country; and the Canaanites live near the sea and along the Jordan. ”
Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.”
