The gift of time

 War is a waste

Our most precious gift
Lives of people so matter
To seek all it costs,  to line up the lost
Have to be mad as a hatter

Lay down your arms and sing
Just set down your guns and sing
Your choice to be wise, your heart in God's eyes
He’s teaching us all to just sing

What are we doing when we put our arms down
To whom are we actually yielding
To God and His way, this act will say
All lives are actually worth shielding

Lay down your arms and sing
Just set down your guns and sing
Your choice to be wise, your heart in God's eyes
He’s teaching us all to just sing

Lay down your arms and sing
Just set down your guns and sing
Your choice to be wise, your heart in God's eyes
He’s teaching us all to just sing.

Psalms 90:12

Teach us to number our days,
that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

Live for others

 What I’ve  got today

I have for a reason

May be friends, don’t know when it ends
It’s all there for a season

Live for others
Forget yourself
It’s why we’re all alive
Seems like passion
It’s just fashion
Even what I drive

Fashion is as fashion does
We can make better choices
I’ll live for you
You live for me
Cars can be our voices

Live for others
Forget yourself
It’s why we’re all alive
Seems like passion
It’s just fashion
Even what I drive.

Max Headspace

I’m here to tell you what you do counts

There’s only these hours each day
Priorities  move, outcomes improve
Your brain sees a much better way

Choices abound, not all of them sound
We really do reap what we sow
The drugs that you take the brain just can’t make
Choice means More’n just high or low

Limited space means limited time
You think it’s eternal, it is
Headspace, however, is tied to endeavour
We’re created to sizzle, not fizz

Sizzle we can, life is good as it is
No additive needed nor sought
Live the life you’ve been given, see the car that you’ve driven
It’s a rental, it was long ago bought

Bought we all were, blood was the price
Eternity harbours in hearts
Not just you and me,it’s a team won’t you see
It’s greater than the sum of its parts

So do it for others, Your sisters and brothers
They in turn do it for you
Live life to the full, sharpen don’t dull
It matters, and the days are but few

Again what I’m saying is treat yourself good
Life’s precious, and people so matter
See yourself as fielder, catcher, or pitcher
Truth is we’re all the next batter.

Ecclesiastes 3:11
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

Consistent conduct

 Do what you can do

Don’t give up, keep trying
Get up each day and trek along The Way
Go on and tell the truth if you’ve been lying

Consistent conduct
It’s the way to live today
Consistent conduct
The Way to make life pay

As for shunning people
It’s harsh but for the best
Some folks hold you, sit still and scold you
For rocking their round-the-clock rest

Consistent conduct
It’s the way to live today
Consistent conduct
The Way to make life pay

Consistent conduct
It’s the way to live today
Consistent conduct
The Way to make life pay.

2 Thessalonians 3:6-15
Warning Against Idleness
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers and sisters, to keep away from every believer who is idle and disruptive and does not live according to the teaching you received from us. For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you, nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you to imitate. For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.”. We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They are not busy; they are busybodies. Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the food they eat. And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good. Take special note of anyone who does not obey our instruction in this letter. Do not associate with them, in order that they may feel ashamed. Yet do not regard them as an enemy, but warn them as you would a fellow believer.

Youngest son

 Was Goliath David's neighbour

They could see across the valley of Elah

What God commands He also hands
His power to this ruddy, young fella

Some things we can't question, take them as read
There's a chasm tween the old and the new
Jesus, our Saviour, commands our behaviour
Entire law is fulfilled with His view

Saul's a head taller, David's brothers were too
They were warriors and older for a start
Folks see appearance, God sees adherence
He and He only sees heart.

1 Samuel 16:6-12 (NIV)
6 When they arrived, Samuel saw Eliab and thought, “Surely the LORD’s anointed stands here before the LORD.”
7 But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
8 Then Jesse called Abinadab and had him pass in front of Samuel. But Samuel said, “The LORD has not chosen this one either.” 9 Jesse then had Shammah pass by, but Samuel said, “Nor has the LORD chosen this one.” 10 Jesse had seven of his sons pass before Samuel, but Samuel said to him, “The LORD has not chosen these.” 11 So he asked Jesse, “Are these all the sons you have?”
“There is still the youngest,” Jesse answered. “He is tending the sheep.”
Samuel said, “Send for him; we will not sit down until he arrives.”
12 So he sent for him and had him brought in. He was glowing with health and had a fine appearance and handsome features.
Then the LORD said, “Rise and anoint him; this is the one.”

Galatians 5:14 (NIV)
14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Boundless being

I once thought it was about me

That I’s some kind of herald
The truth I see ain’t you or me
We’re not the ones imperilled

Jesus died, He gave His life
Ultimate sacrifice
He’ll come back down, most awesome sound
His dead are first to rise
Boundless being
Boundless being
Our eyes can’t see our souls
What we think is perfect
Is still just full of holes

Up in the air, all our air
Can’t  grasp what we’ll be seeing
Above the earth there is no dearth
We’re each a boundless being
Boundless being
Boundless being
Our eyes can’t see our souls
What we think is perfect
Is still just full of holes

Thanks be to God, who doesn’t change
He says our future’s certain
If you still think it’s absurd to rely on His Word
Prepare for the fall of the final curtain

Boundless being
Boundless being
Our eyes can’t see our souls
What we think is perfect
Is still just full of holes

Boundless being
Boundless being
Our eyes can’t see our souls
What we think is perfect
Is still just full of holes.

Psalms 119:96

To all perfection I see a limit,
but your commands are boundless.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words.

Things above

Our old selves are gone now

Had a purpose, now no more
A brand new start, we set our heart
Above & through the door

How is it that here on earth
We think we see the real
What’s really true is up and through
New minds can break the seal

What’s up above the gilded cage
Up and through the plane
What does it mean, this higher scene
What do we have to gain

I’ve got questions, nearly right words
The intent’s not novel, not new
I’m simply swapping, it’s small but whopping
Replace the word what with who

Christ is up there, Jesus himself
He’s seated ‘cause His work is done
In Him we’re hid, stay on earth God forbid
I’m amping to be with The One

Such a wondrous message
Such riches to just let dwell
Grateful to sing, teach who He will bring
The Way to heaven from hell

Lastly, my brethren, I beg and I chide
Don’t be consumed by the earth
Put your thoughts higher, above all the fire
Christ is your life and your worth.

Colossians 3:1-3

Living as Those Made Alive in Christ
Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.

Colossians 3:16
Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.

Don’t call don’t write

 Really,  it’s our business

Focus, we don’t need something else
We like our lives, no guns nor knives
All told, His story tells

Don’t call don’t write
Not black  nor white
Not joking,  just stay away
Don’t fear your idols or your gods
You won’t get what I say

It’s  like old Egypt when God told Isaac
Just don’t, my son, go down there
For if you seek, you’re up the creek
Rapids roar, they don’t care

Don’t call don’t write
Not black  nor white
Not joking just stay away
Don’t fear your idols or your gods
You won’t get what I say

Don’t call don’t write
Not black  nor white
Not joking just stay away
Don’t fear your idols or your gods
You won’t get what I say.

Grassy lake

Early morning  mist
Can’t see past the dock
Done done the draw,  six hunters saw
It’s time to beat the clock

Going down to the water
Gonna jump down in the boat
Going down to the water
Gonna jump down in the boat
Lookin at that old pirogue
See if that old thang’ll float

It happens each  morning
After the draw is done
It’s a trek through the trails, lit up with tall tales
Bunch  of ole boys having fun

Going down to the water
Gonna jump down in the boat
Going down to the water
Gonna jump down in the boat
Lookin at that old pirogue
See if that old thang’ll float

Look a bit deeper you might see the woods
A bit more occurring than fun
Just looks like a swamp, on the surface no pomp
It’s passionately preserved by The One.

Going down to the water
Gonna jump down in the boat
Going down to the water
Gonna jump down in the boat
Lookin at that old pirogue
See if that old thang’ll float

Going down to the water
Gonna jump down in the boat
Going down to the water
Gonna jump down in the boat
Lookin at that old pirogue
See if that old thang’ll float.

Greater good

 Everyone has dreams

Not one to be discounted
Just know each day strife comes our way
As each strong steed is mounted

Life is hard, It’s tough enough
‘Bout everything’s against us
The very air we breathe and share
Will have, in time, dispensed us

Turn us to dust we all return
We brawl a losing battle
If me is all, we’re weak and small
No better off than cattle

It’s not just us, though, thankfully
there is a God who loves us
We house His Spirit, for those who fear it
we need a Hand, He gloves us

Today you’ll see a chance for me
In your neighbourhood
Forget health & wealth, Forget self
Serve the greater good.

High cotton

You may think things are bad for you

You’re sunk, all but forgotten
Soon you’ll see, He’s setting you free
You’ll be walking again in high cotton

Walking in high cotton
Sun shining on your face
Strolling through unhindered
Have the whole run of the place

Guests will come and see you
You’ll greet with open arms
Face to face with boldness and grace
You’ll share all His goodness and charms

Walking in high cotton
Sun shining on your face
Strolling through unhindered
Have the whole run of the place

Walking in high cotton
Sun shining on your face
Strolling through unhindered
Have the whole run of the place.

Acts 28:30-31
For two whole years Paul stayed there in his own rented house and welcomed all who came to see him. He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ—with all boldness and without hindrance!

Don't slip into Psychosis

God's above the earth, He's above the Heavens

He deserves our praise from all the heights
He makes our sons and daughters, He uses all the waters
He Himself is praised by all the lights

We should not be foolish, we should not compare
Be wise, we are not the standard
Paul obeyed the rule, others flattered a fool
Into psychosis slipped and then they slandered

Glory in The Lord, He is Glory
Praise The Lord, He's forever Friend
He will not be moved, obey and be approved
Only One who matters will commend.

Psalms 148:1-4 (KJV)
1 Praise ye the LORD.
Praise ye the LORD from the heavens:
praise him in the heights.
2 Praise ye him, all his angels:
praise ye him, all his hosts.
3 Praise ye him, sun and moon:
praise him, all ye stars of light.
4 Praise him, ye heavens of heavens,
and ye waters that be above the heavens.

2 Corinthians 10:12-18 (KJV)
12 For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. 13 But we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you. 14 For we stretch not ourselves beyond our measure, as though we reached not unto you: for we are come as far as to you also in preaching the gospel of Christ: 15 Not boasting of things without our measure, that is, of other men's labours; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you according to our rule abundantly, 16 To preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in another man's line of things made ready to our hand.
17 But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. 18 For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.

Holding onto conformity

 People are dying

Not every rumour is true
Do what it takes, master all makes
Not just what the family will do

One of these days
If you live to your best
You’ll give thanks for breaking ranks
Your children will call themselves blessed

If you toe the family line
In your head there lives a cop
He’s speaking rules, he’s faking fools
Your family line May stop

There’s no need to nash or wrath
Just no need to yell
Inspect the labs, get your jabs
It’s  the really real rebel.

God cannot be gamed

If we think we can game God

We’re backing into a corner
He knows the heart, He sees all plans
Knows when I’m a mourner

There’s just no gaming God
God cannot be gamed
There’s just no gaming God
God cannot be gamed

It’s cause and effect
We reap exactly what we sow
We refuse to give up
We watch a fruitful show

There’s just no gaming God
God cannot be gamed
There’s just no gaming God
God cannot be gamed
There’s just no gaming God
God cannot be gamed
There’s just no gaming God
God cannot be gamed.

Galatians 6:7-10

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
